Bejeweled 2 Cheats & Cheat Codes – Want to make your best actions games of Bejeweled 2 even more fun? Popcap Games is known for including cheats and cheat codes in their games and Bejeweled 2 is no different. We’ve put together a collection of Bejeweled 2 Cheats you can use to add a little more spice to your gameplay.

Bejeweled 2 Cheats & Cheat Codes

It should be noted that each some of the cheat codes can be enacted at any time while others require the player to reach a predefined level to gain access. Also, some cheats are triggered by typing on the keyboard. Such cheats are NOT case sensitive and can be typed at any time during gameplay.

Combining cheat codes is possible and can be seen in some of the screenshots below. To do this, just use the codes simultaneously.

Original Mode
Original Mode is the same as the original Bejeweled and can be thought of as Bejeweled 2 Classic Mode with no Power Gems and no Hyper Cubes.

To enter Original Mode, guide your cursor in a clockwise circle across the four mode select options on the menu screen (Classic, Action, Endless and Puzzle – in that order).

You actually have to approximate a circle shape with your cursor. It may take a few passes to get this mode cheat to trigger, but have patience, it does work. Keep trying until it works.

Special Effects

Special effects don’t change gameplay, they just alter the way it looks and feels. To enact the special effects cheats listed below, punch them in via your keyboard at anytime during game play (not when you are on a menu screen) and you’ll see the effects.

To turn the effects off, either punch them again of type in ’normal’. It should be noted that each of these cheat codes automatically turns off at the end of gameplay and must be reactivated in all ensuing games.

This cheat code (oldskool) swaps out the gems with the ones used in the original Bejeweled/Diamond Mine game. If you’ve never played the original game, this is a must use code. It will give you an interesting perspective on how far Bejeweled has come.

This cheat code (noframes) allows the player to toggle the borders around the gameplay area and the scoring sidebar…kind of a minimalist view.

This cheat code (xmas) switches the rugged planet background to an ice planet & adds softly falling snow. Really, the code is more of a barren winter code than a Christmas code, but whatever.

This cheat code (starfield) changes the background to outer space and moves it from right to left.

This cheat code (network) changes the background to a Matrix style background.

Miscellaneous Graphic Cheat Codes

Each of the following cheats lets you alter the look and feel of the game by altering the gem colors pallete.

This cheat code (blackandwhite) causes all gems to lose their color and take on various shades of black and white.

Use this cheat with caution as it is very difficult to discern matches when all the jewels are shades of gray. Notice in the image above the background shows I have already implemented the ’xmax’ cheat code.

Similar to the blackandwhite cheat code, this code (greenscreen) changes all gems to varying shades of green. Again, use this cheat with caution as making matches becomes very difficult.

This cheat code (amberscreen) causes all gems take on an amber hue. Use this cheat with caution as it is very difficult to discern matches when all the gems are ’amberized’.

This cheat code (colorswap) results in all gem colors being swapped for a new color. The gem positions don’t change, but you get a new set of colors.

Mistakes Keeping You From Winning Bejeweled 2

Moving Bottom to Top

You may think you are getting rid of those 2 pesky pink triangles in the bottom right corner, hoping for something better to come along to make an amazing hyper cube. Or maybe you are afraid of trapping yourself with bad gems if you work from top to bottom. But the truth is, to beat Bejeweled 2 the best advice is to work from top to bottom.

By playing from top to bottom, you can systematically choose which combos to use first, and which to leave alone so they can build up to something better.

By creating matches at the top of the board, you are preserving those matches below, ensuring you more moves in the future.

Wasting Power Gems

Power Gems are created when 4 gems of the same color are matched together. Three gems are then removed from the screen and one power gem is left. When a power gem is used, it will blast away all the gems surrounding the match.

Always be aware of your surrounding cubes when detonating a power gem. If a hyper cube is nearby and gets caught in the blast of a power gem, you lose all the power of the hyper cube.

Try to always save a match near a power gem. That way, should you get in a tight spot, you have an immediate boost in points and new gems available.

Using Hyper Cubes Early

You did it! You made a rare hyper cube in Bejeweled 2. By being systematic in your matches you were able to match 5 gems of the same color and have created a hyper cube.
By saving it for harder, more advanced levels you will not only gain more points, but you will make sure you actually reach that next level. Always make sure to use a hyper cube in a match with the gem you have most of on a screen. This will not only get you the most points, but create the maximum new opportunities as well.
